Eligibility - New Mileage Requirement
Why are you implementing the mileage requirement? PGA Jr. League is a community-based program designed to bring friends and families together to play golf under the leadership of PGA of America Golf Professionals. We received overwhelming feedback from Coaches and players about participants traveling significantly long distances to participate, which is not in the spirit of PGA Jr. League. This policy ensures that teams and leagues, including All-Star teams, are locally-focused to include players from within the community.
Why is the requirement set at 75 miles? Not only is the focus to create a community-based program, but this policy is also in alignment with the American Development Model for Golf (ADM) developed through the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC). ADM encourages developmentally appropriate experiences that set youth athletes up for lifelong success in sport, and a key component is the importance of maximizing practice/play time. Through our commitment to following the ADM and consultation with the ADM Technical Expert Group, the National PGA Jr. League Committee determined that a maximum 75 mile travel distance was appropriate, minimizing travel time and maximizing practice and play.
What if a player’s residence is 76 miles from the facility? If a player participates in a league that is further than 75 miles from their residence, he/she will be ineligible to participate in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship Season.
How do you define residence? Residence is defined as a continuous, genuine place of habitation or education, and it can only be changed with a genuine move. Residency shall be determined based upon the street address, city, state and zip of a parent(s) or court-appointed guardian(s) or school within the calendar year in which the applicable season occurs.
What if the guardians are divorced or separated and live in different locations? Players may select which guardian’s residence they wish to utilize.
What if a family has a summer/second home in a different location? Players may utilize any residence - including summer/second homes - that meets the requirements outlined in the Residence definition.
Are there any exceptions to this rule? The National PGA Jr. League Committee will review exemption requests (from PGA Coaches only) and has the right to waive the policy due to special circumstances. Please note that the 75 mile radius will be strictly enforced and participants should not count on an exemption request when making decisions about which local league programs to participate in.
How are you measuring the distance? The driving distance between the residence and the golf facility address will be measured to determine if it is within the 75 mile requirement.
What if I believe that a Coach has ineligible players on his/her team? The PGA Jr. League National Committee trusts that all Coaches respect the principle of adhering to the rules, proper conduct and fair play in the spirit of the game and of PGA Jr. League. The Committee has the right to remove a Coach from a competition for blatant and/or extreme breaches of etiquette. The Committee also has the right to suspend or remove a Coach from the program if it is believed that he/she is not acting within the appropriate guidelines. Any breach will be handled at the National Committee’s discretion and may be communicated to the respective PGA Section office or may include a PGA Code of Ethics violation to be reviewed by the PGA Board of Control. PGA Coaches may submit a Code of Conduct inquiry to the National Committee at any time. All submissions will remain confidential within the National Committee and kept anonymous from other Coaches and PGA Jr. League participants.
How will you ensure that all All-Star players meet the eligibility requirements? Players and Coaches must attest to meeting these requirements at local league registration and at each stage of the Championship Season. Proof of eligibility (such as birth certificates, utility bills, school records, etc.) will also be required at different stages of the Championship Season, such as Regionals and National Championships.
All-Star Roster Changes - Updated Policy
Why are you implementing this change? Given the seasonal nature of All-Star Play Days, Coaches need the flexibility to make roster changes (with eligible players only) throughout the first stage of Championship Season.

When does a roster change become permanent? The roster change feature on the Coach Dashboard will lock on August 27, 2024, in preparation for Regional Championships. Coaches may still make roster changes at this time, but must do so by requesting the change via their Player Engagement Consultant, Regional Championship Tournament Director or the website.
Roster changes will become permanent beginning at Regional Championships.
Course Set-Up - New Yardages and Tees
Why are you implementing this change? We revisited yardage research and through our continued commitment to ADM are making adjustments to ensure equity across all ages and genders of players. All yardages are recommended in order to accommodate athletes of all skill levels and promote birdies, while creating exceptional player experiences.
What are the recommended yardages associated with each set of tees? Click here to view detailed recommendations for course set-up at the local level, as well as requirements for specific Championship Season competitions.
How do I set up four different tees if a golf course only has three designated tee boxes? Coaches are encouraged to use the fairway for more forward sets of tees, such as the CIRCLE or PENTAGONS. Players may also occasionally share teeing areas due to differing golf course layouts. For example, a common course-set up method for the PENTAGON tees may be to share the CIRCLE tee location on par 3’s and share the SQUARE tee location on applicable par 4’s or 5’s.
