With PGA Coach, you have full flexibility in how you collect payments from students. Whether you're booking private lessons or running group events, we make it easy to manage transactions through Stripe, our trusted payment processing partner. In this guide, we’ll walk you through setting up your Stripe account and explain how payments work for different booking types.

Why Use Stripe with PGA Coach?

  • Simple & Secure Transactions
Stripe handles all payments safely, so you can focus on coaching.

  • Get Paid Faster
Funds are automatically deposited into your bank account.

  • Professional Experience for Students
Seamless payment process—no clunky apps or extra steps.

Things to Know Before You Start

  • Stripe is required to collect payments through PGA Coach.

  • If you've previously set up a Stripe account created outside the PGA Coach system, it can't be used with PGA Coach.

  • Each transaction includes a small processing fee, which is applied to the total amount charged.

  • You can enable or disable payments per booking type or group event.

Setting Up Your Stripe Account: Step-by-Step

Step 1: Go to Your Payment Settings

  • Click your avatar in the top-right corner.

  • Select “Payments”, then “Manage Online Payment Accounts.”

Step 2: Add a Payment Account

  • Click “Add Payment Account.”

  • Name your payment account (e.g., “John’s Golf Coaching”).

Step 3: Complete Stripe Registration
You’ll be redirected to Stripe to set up your account. Stripe will ask for:

  • Personal Information (Name, Address, etc.)

  • Business Information (Industry Type)

  • Banking Information (for payouts)

Confirm Setup in PGA Coach
Once completed, your payment account will appear on your Payments Dashboard in PGA Coach.

Important Tax Information: Form 1099-K

Recent legislation has lowered the threshold for issuing Form 1099-K:

  • New Threshold: $600 in aggregate payments.

  • Old Threshold: $20,000 and 200 transactions.

While the IRS delayed enforcement of the $600 threshold for 2022, it is expected to apply in future years. This means:

  • If you collect more than $600 via PGA Coach (through Stripe), you’ll receive a 1099-K.

  • This applies to payments received from PGA Coach, PGA Jr. League, and PGA Family Cup.

For more details, visit the IRS website on 1099-K Requirements and consult your tax advisor regarding your specific situation.

Next Steps

Once your Stripe account is connected, you can:

  • Turn on payments per booking type (private lessons, packages, etc.)

  • Enable payments for group events you create in PGA Coach.

  • Choose whether to collect payments online through PGA Coach or manually (outside the platform).
