I grew up in the golf industry as the daughter of a PGA Professional, so I feel like I've seen and heard every golf professional stereotype there is. But we're not just robots behind the counter, and we do more than just fold shirts and print scorecards. We are the professionals who grow the game and run your favorite golf courses! We wear collared shirts and pants for the same reason you do... because we love this game.

I am fully aware that I do not look like the average PGA Head Golf Professional, but I would like to think there are going to be more of me out there. As a Gen-Z head pro, I bring a different perspective to the game than the average person who walks through a golf shop (even though the game is skewing younger).

Why Use Social Media?
My generation is the first of its kind to grow up with social media, so why not use it to my advantage to spread awareness? We are human too. We stink at golf sometimes too, so why not poke fun at ourselves? I also like to spread awareness about what the female golf professional goes through. Here are just a few of the questions I've heard:

"Are you the bev cart girl?"
"Aww, do you play golf too?"
"Are you the merchandiser here?"

When I tell them I'm actually the Head Pro, it's funny to see how people react. I'm not afraid to showcase how silly it is that I sometimes feel like a unicorn in the golf industry.

Social media can help you attract new students, get noticed by the right person, and even network within the golf industry. I have made friends through social media who are in the golf world, I've had people me ask if I can give them lessons, and so much more. It's a great marketing tool.

Which Social Media Channels Do You Prefer and Why?

I use instagram and TikTok the most. TikTok will probably be banned, I guess, so Instagram will be the go to. I do like TikTok though because it's great for short attention spans, and it's easy to edit. I like Instagram because I feel like everyone has a handle now, so it's easy to share content through posts, stories and reels.

What's One Piece of Advice You Have For Other Coaches About Using Social Media?

Get started with simple golf tips! Show your personality when you provide those tips. There are PLENTY of instructional videos on the internet these days. Try to make it different, and try to make it your own.
